Roadschooling is hard. @advodna_ann and Wynne have been doing a few workbook pages, the Texas State Park Jr. Ranger book and a bit from a chapter book each day. When Ann asks her if she wants another chapter, Wynne says "I want ALL of them!" You know those Instagram pictures where people say they are working from their hammocks? Does it count if you're "working" on a maple bacon donut (yes, it's so gooey you have to eat it with a fork) from @gourdoughspublichouse? Don't worry, their food truck is - surprise, it's Austin! - a vintage Airstream. And yes, that was after a dip in a hot spring-fed community pool (that we've been sworn to secrecy on 😉) and a shrimp tempura taco from the @mellizoztacos truck next door. We made it out to Barton Springs with @mastermarx and @margaretleonard this afternoon. After half an hour letting the kids loose on the awesome playground, we wandered down to the river's edge below the pools. Over a span of about 5 minutes, we all went from "No! Kids, don't get close to the water!" to "Well, okay, maybe just your feet..." to "I think we have emergency pants in the car" to "Toss me your undies." Naked babies everywhere. #herecometheleonards While sitting on the bank taking in the spectacle in the beautiful light, all I could think about was the Simpsons episode where the kids decide to sneak into an R rated movie and run off chanting "Bar-ton Fink! The rule is only four stuffed animals allowed per child, but that only applies to those out on their bed. Occasionally, we dig behind the toy boxes under the lounge to reach the stuffed animal backstock, and it's like Christmas all over again! Still, if one comes out, one has to go in. There was no way to capture an evening of local Austin BBQ and beer around a campfire with @takethatexit, @takethatexit_jeremy, @mastermarx, @margaretleonard and @advodna_ann plus cameos from @thewhitegomez, @foreveraventura, @huckleberry_adam and @huckleberry_jenn, so here's a shot of the Airstream in some of the rare sun that made its way through an otherwise cold and windy day.
